Meseekna Metacognition — Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the Meseekna Metacognition desktop application for macOS (the "App"), published by Cerebral Ninja, Inc. The App runs primarily on your own device.
1. Availability
The App is offered only to users located in the United States. It is not directed to, intended for, or made available to users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.
2. Accounts and sign-in
To use the App you create an account. You may sign in with Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, or email-based one-time codes. In that flow we collect: your verified email address (which, if you use Apple's Hide My Email, may be an Apple-private-relay address), any name your provider returns, and an identifier from your chosen provider. We use these only to create and maintain your account, log you in, send you transactional messages, and let you link sign-in methods by verified email. We honor Apple's private relay and will not attempt to discover your real email if you choose Hide My Email. Account records are stored on our servers, hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States. Transactional email is delivered via Resend.
3. Accessibility (AX) permission — what the App reads
With your permission, the App uses macOS Accessibility to generate coaching based on what you are actively writing. When granted, it reads: (a) the text of the field you are actively editing (focused text areas only); (b) the bundle identifier of the app you are using and a timestamp; and (c) for web browsers, optionally the page URL. The App does not read window titles, full documents, unfocused text, your selections, or screen images, and it does not record clicks or keystrokes outside the focused field. If you revoke Accessibility permission in macOS System Settings, capture stops immediately.
4. On-device redaction before anything leaves your Mac
Before captured text is used, the App runs it through an on-device redaction step that removes common secrets and identifiers — API keys and access tokens, bearer tokens, base64 blobs, email addresses, and phone numbers — and can additionally redact names and other personal, medical, legal, or HR-related identifiers using Apple's on-device models. Raw, un-redacted text is never transmitted off your device.
5. What is sent to Meseekna, and why
To generate account-enabled coaching, the App sends only anonymized/redacted text together with the source app's bundle identifier, a timestamp, and limited session metadata (date, prompt count, active practice dimension/lens) to Meseekna's API. Meseekna's servers call the configured AI provider for scoring and rewrite. We do not send raw text, window titles, URLs, click data, or identifiers removed during redaction. We do not persist the redacted prompt bodies by default; we store only account, usage, operational metadata, and derived coaching results needed by the product.
6. Where data is stored, and for how long
Your coaching history is stored locally on your device (by default in ~/.metacog-coach/). It does not sync to any server and remains on your device until you delete it. Account data is stored on our servers only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.
7. Deleting your data
Local data: quit the App and remove the ~/.metacog-coach/ folder, and/or uninstall the App. Account data: request deletion in-app under Account → Delete Account, or email thinker@meseekna.com.
8. Optional features that send data (off by default)
Cohort comparison — only if you enable it via configuration; sends an anonymous install identifier, the date, your dimension scores, and a prompt count — never prompt content. Share — only if you click "share" to publish a results page.
9. Analytics
The App may collect limited usage and diagnostic analytics to help us improve the product. We collect this only on an opt-in basis — the App presents a consent choice at first run, and no analytics are collected unless and until you opt in. You can change your choice in Settings.
10. Security
Session and refresh credentials are stored in the macOS Keychain. Coaching history is stored locally. Transmissions to our servers use TLS.
11. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
12. AI transparency
The App's coaching is generated by an AI system. The App labels AI-generated output as "AI-generated" in the interface.
13. Changes
This policy may be updated from time to time, and Cerebral Ninja, Inc. reserves the right to make changes at its discretion. The date the policy was last revised is identified at the top of the page. For nonmaterial changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of the terms and post the revised version. For material changes to how we treat your personal information, we will provide you with a notice, such as an in-app notification, and may require you to re-accept the updated policy.
